The Guide for Herbs in Runescape

Possibly the slowest, but most useful, DIY skill in the game. Many DIY'ers develop their training cycles with Herb gathering in mind. With the right skills, and a little DIY attitude, you can make, or save, yourself millions. Herblore compliments nearly all skills, and you will find that quite a few skills compliment Herblore as well.

Here are some excellent gathering techniques: At level 41 summoning, another great way to collect herbs is unleashed. The Macaw will increase the quality of Herbs dropped, and its special, 'Herbcall', provides a chance of creating an Herb. This is especially useful if you are already killing chaos druids, and fancy a few more herbs to speed up the process, or even if you are doing a fairly monotonous task like fishing. Learn how long it takes between specials, and this can become an invaluable asset to your herblore.

Chaos Druids, Banshees, Basilisks, Water elementals (vials of water too), Aberrant Specters (harder, but better drops), Cave Crawlers, Men/Women (Seers Bar, Edgeville) as well as many monsters, are excellent Herb droppers. If you are going to be visiting a place repeatedly and it has a low level herb-dropper, pack a weapon and 1-hit it each time you go by. Herbs add up quick if you are always collecting them.

Farming is a great source of herbs, but at 75 minutes per patch of 5-14, we do not recommend counting on Farming for all of your herbalist needs. You will need to fight eventually. However, at level 82 thieving, the coolest thing happens. You can now use the shortcut near the Yanille bank to access Chaos druids and warriors. Chaos druids are the absolute fastest herb droppers and are only one screen away from a bank. For getting your own herbs, 82 thieving is the way to go.
