How to Play Roms on a R4 Card

Buy an R4 Card Cartridge off Amazon,eBay or wherever you want. They can cost around £25- £40. Make sure you get one that comes with a memory card and CD.

Once you have got it insert the CD into the computer and follow the instructions. If by any means you don't have the CD don't worry it is easy to setup. Once you have loaded the CD and followed the on screen instructions you are ready to go.

Insert your small memory card into the USB, their should be a slot at the top. The memory card should be like a small Sandisk or Kingston. The higher the gig the more games, movies or music you can put on. Insert the Usb into your computer.

Open the folder, should be removable disk. If you have installed the CD then their should be 2 files called 'Moonshell' and 'System'. If you have not got these then go onto google and search for them. I am not sure what the website is called but it is quite easy to find. Once found download the files and only put the system and moon shell file on your USB. The system file is definitely required.

In the system folder on your USB create a folder and name it 'games', this is where you will save your games.

Now you are ready to download games but first you need to download 'WINRAR'. This is needed to extract your games so that they will work on your DS. Its a brilliant application. To get this search Google for it and just find the link then download.

To download games go to www.romulation.net or just search Google and NDS ROMS for other great websites. This is a great website and easy to use. On the website go to download roms or search and find the one you want, once found you will have to enter a codeto download the game, don't worry it is nothing serious. Now it should come up with where you want to save it. Save it in an appropriate place. The game should now be downloading.

Now the game is downloaded find the file and right click it, if Winrar is installed you should see the option to extract. Click on that and choose the location you want to play it. In this case it will be on your USB, save it to their in your games section. It will now say extracting. Once that is done remove your USB and stick the small memory stick into your R4 at the top. insert into your ds and you are ready to go.

Find the games file by clicking on the smiley face and then going into the games file and choose the game you want to play. HAPPY GAMING.

Before even putting the game in, download WinRar. After downloading, download the game you want for your R4. Save it on your destop because it is easy to spot unless you have a messy destop. Make a new folder and name it after the game. Open up the folder so long with the game's Winrar. A pop up should appear after opening the WinRar but just click close. You should be able to see books stacked on top of each other. They should have the same names but different numbers. If you see it, your on the right track still. If not, I'll explain later. Anyway, click your mouse from the top (not the folder inside the WinRar but the 1st Winrar, you know what I mean?), drag it down to the last WinRar and the LAST. Drag all the Winrar into the new folder your created named after your game. Select all of the WinRar that means all of the WinRar are in blue (click mouse in the new folder and drag until all WinRar is selected). Right click and that should give you different options. Click "Extract Here". Let it finish loading. To let you know, some games will have an error while extracting but don't get pissed off if it doesn't work. I'm sure there is an another one that will work from a different website. Anyway, after extracting, click your mouse on the "Start" (bottom left corner of screen) and you should see "My computer". Click it and you should get a "My Computer File" You should see a name called "Removable Disk", just one unless you have other usb on.

It didn't have enough space to put it all together so I had to do it seperate.(Part 2 of "Before even puttin in") Make a file called "Games" in your removable disk, this would allow you to go in the folder from your ds. After double clicking on "Games", on the destop, drag your folder inside and let it transfer. After complete, go in the folder and delete the WinRar because it is a waste of room. The folder should only have the game file.

Safely eject the usb out and put the microchip inside the R4, put on the ds and turn on. On the ds, press A on the fist square on the left, you should see the "Games" folder. Press A, you should see the new game file you put in, press A on it. Press A on the new game and it should have a pop up saying something like "This game file does not have a save file, do you want to make one"in different languages. Press A which automatically makes one. And start playing!

How to Theme an R4 DS Menu

If you found this article via the Random Article link or otherwise happened in here, an R4 DS is just one of many Nitro to microSD adapters on the market. Nitro is the internal code name for Nintendo DS cartridges; ergo, one allows code on a microSD card to run on Nintendo's portable gaming system.

For those of you who know that, when you turn on your DS with your R4DS inserted, you're familiar with the seasonal themes presented on the main menu. The R4DS, or R4 for short, has 12 themes and 13 settings. You can choose any of the 12, or you can choose Automatic Mode which chooses a new theme each month. Theme #1 will show when your DS's internal calendar is set to January; when February rolls around, Theme #2 becomes default.

Did you know you can make your own and take over every aspect of how your R4 menus look? This guide and two free software applications will help you do just that.

Things You'll Need

A Nintendo DS or Nintendo DS Lite. (The Nintendo DSi does not support the R4DS.)

An R4DS Nitro to microSD adapter

A microSD card

A PC with a USB port or an SD card slot

A microSD to USB adapter or a microSD to SD adapter

XnView, a free, open-source image manipulation tool or one offering similar functionality

R4 Theme Creator Alice, a free tool to build R4 themes

Microsoft Paint, or a program which will let you write on pictures (optional)

Choose your images. You will need one for each month/theme to be displayed on the top screen of your DS. A theme also includes a background for the bottom screen, three icons for the bottom screen, a background for the file manager's top screen, and a background for the file manager's bottom screen. It helps to use the same three icons and wallpapers for the other three screens, but if you want to have four unique images for each theme, that's 48 pictures to find.

Resize background images.Choose and resize icons.Build a theme.Build the rest of the themes.Install themes.Enjoy your personalized DS!Open R4TC Alice. Across the top there are five icons or tabs; we'll be starting with the first one and continuing left to right to make one theme at a time.Create folders now. Inside TEMP make folders called theme01 to theme12.

The first tab is called Logo Screen. This tab controls the wallpaper on the top screen when you first turn on your DS. Find January256.bmp and drop it on the big box in the upper-left corner.Where it says Quick Resize, choose the option that fits your wallpaper the best. Alternately, use the zoom slider above the image to get it just right.

Below, note the Text Color tool. Consult the diagram to the right - you can't stop it from saying "R4DS English Version" in the lower-right corner, but you can choose the text color. This will change dynamically, so you can work with it to get the best look. The Mask option will let you put a haze/tint over it if you like.

The next tab is Icon Screen. The background is chosen the same way as before, but now you can add the three icons. Alice calls them Game, Media, and Slot2. Use the Browse button to find TEMP and choose DS, Media, and GBA, respectively.

Third tab is the File screen. Choose the background for the file manager, and be sure to set the text and highlight colors accordingly to get the best look. The details on this and the next tab make quite the case for using the same settings on each theme.

Fourth tab is Info Screen. Again, follow the same steps as before and be sure the text is readable.

On the fifth tab, you can choose an image to serve as your GBA frame. Game Boy Advance games are widescreen, and rather than just have a black border to crop the screen, you can decorate this as well. Follow the instructions as before, just be aware most of your image will be covered up, all but the edges.

The last tab is where you finish up. Choose a title and enter your name. Neither shows up on the DS. Look at the export options on the left, set them accordingly, and choose Export. Browse to the month you're making, and save it there.

Repeat for each month. If you have a lot of digital photos, try to select a picture taken in each month for that month's theme.Use Microsoft Paint or a similar drawing tool to date the image, add a note, or personalize it. XnView either is portable or is available portably, and R4TC Alice is portable. You can put both programs and your TEMP folder on a USB flash drive and work on this on other computers.

Keep your themes backed up somewhere, in case your microSD memory R4 cards fails. Don't use the R4 DS to steal Nintendo DS games. The R4DS should only be used to load homebrew software or to play music or videos.

Do the R4 Card Cheat to Make Money in Nintendogs

This is simple and it will only cost around £20 and the cheats work on almost every DS game (not DSi).Buy the new R4 cards.

Put Nintendogs on it.Just before you press A to play press B to go on to the cheats. The first cheat is "Infinite Cash", select this for , well, infinite cash! You have always got £999,999.99 (even if you spend spend spend)! Here's an example of the cheats on the new R4, my first dog was a Jack Russle (Milo)! You can't delete your Nintendogs file the normal way (pressing all the buttons when you load the game), but you can just delete the saved file on the Micro SD card!

The R4 card for Nintendo DS Lite has again stolen the limelight, as far as USB gaming cards for the Nintendo gaming consoles are concerned. It's proved to be way better than most other cards in its category like the DS-Extreme and NinjaDS.

If you are a proud owner of the Nintendo DS Lite, do check out the R4 collection of gaming cards before settling down for just another gaming, flash memory card.

An Original DS Lite R4.One of the best cards from the arsenal of Revolution gaming Cartridges, the R4DS is the best Nintendo gaming cartridge available on the planet. It's a blank cartridge and is compatible with other Nintendo gaming consoles as well such as the original Nintendo DS as well as the Nintendo Dsi.

This gaming cartridge can make use of any micro SD flash memory card and is capable of supporting cards with memory capacities for up to 4 Gigabytes, though we would recommend you to use the 2Gigabyte version for an optimum gaming experience. Make use of the 4 Gigabyte card if you are planning to use the R4 Cards for other purposes like storing music, movies or other software applications.

Before we go any further, we would recommend you to buy the card from a trusted source, both online as well as online.

The card software will be provided along with the R4 card on a CD. Install it over your computer, connect your Nintendo with your DS Lite R4 Cards and transfer the files to the card. Once you've successfully transferred the files, put the card in is cartridge and push it inside the gaming console. You are ready to play!

While we were researching for the best gaming cards for Nintendo, we found that the R4 comes with the best user interface of all. It is simple and extremely easy to understand. The NinjaDS and the DS-Extreme don't even come close to what the R4 DS has to offer.

The R4 DS went out of stock in December 2008 as the company stopped production. Since then, a number of R4 replicas have come up the market (The Chinese can replicate almost anything you give to them!). We recommend you steer clear of such replicas.

Mod a Nintendo DS with an R4 Flashcart

Your Nintendo DS can do a lot of things out of the box. It can play R4 DS games, as well as GameBoy Advance (GBA) games. It can download demos from download stations at places like Best Buy, and you can chat with friends in the same room. But, it can also play music, videos, display text files, and much more!

Acquire the R4DS (Revolution For DS) flashcart from an online retailer. They are not sold in stores, but they are not illegal as sold. You can find them on Amazon Marketplace and DealExtreme. Google should turn up others.

Download the latest firmware for the R4. At the time of this writing, the latest version is 1.18. The R4 may not ship with the latest firmware. See below for the proper link.

Connect the Transflash/microSD card to your computer. The R4 comes with a microSD to USB adapter which is very nice. If you have a memory card reader, use the SD adapter that comes with most microSD cards. In a pinch, put the memory card in a compatible phone and connect the phone to the computer.

Open the firmware file, should be Language-Version.zip. Unpack the contents of this archive to the root directory of your microSD card.

Verify that you have done everything right. That should be all it takes. Remove whatever game may be in your DS' Slot-1, insert the R4, and insert the microSD card into the R4. There is only one way it can go, and it will most likely be the way you don't expect. It does not matter in what order you do this - you could also put the microSD card into the R4 and then put the R4 in the DS. (A clever individual can remove the microSD card from the R4 while the R4 is in the DS, but it's a tight area.)

Turn the DS on. You should get the safety warning, but before you get a chance to touch the screen to confirm, the R4 should take over. The default DS menu, if it was enabled (it is by default), will be bypassed, and the R4 menu will load. You will get three choices. The first one, Game, will allow you to load a .NDS file (a DS ROM, or a homebrew application - .NDS is to your DS what .EXE is to your Windows computer). The second one, Media, will allow you to play multimedia - music, video, text - using the Moonshell OS. The third one, Slot-2, will allow you to boot a Slot-2 (Game Boy Advance) game.

Get some good homebrew! See the list linked under references for the compatibility guide - anything with a green square behind R4 is a go!

Anything you want to put on the references to a download with an updated CHEAT.DAT file. Download it, find the one on your microSD card, and replace it with the newer (and nearly 3X bigger) file.

"With great power, comes great responsibility." The R4 lets you play downloaded games. This does not mean you should stop buying them. Support the companies that entertain you, as you are able.

Chinese language R4 cards are not compatible with the English language firmware. If you are getting an error message, make sure that you're using the correct firmware.

Download Sonic Games with R4 Cards

There are a few different ways to download and play Sonic the Hedgehog games on your computer or game R4 Cards. Be careful where you download from, however, because some downloadable games may violate copyright laws.

Connect your Nintendo Wii to the Internet and select the Wii Shop from the main browser window. Connect your Wii with a USB to Ethernet adapter if you don't have access to a wifi network at your home.

Use your credit card to purchase points that can be redeemed for Sonic games. Usually, these games will cost between 500 and 800 Wii points, but the smallest amount of points you can buy is 1,000.

Navigate the Wii Shop channel and find Sonic games that you'd like to play. You can sort the available games by counsel type or production company to help you refine your search. Select all games made by Sega to find most Sonic games easily.

Exchange your Wii points for Sonic games and then wait for them to download. Games are saved directly to your Wii's internal hard drive and can be found on the main browser screen. If you need to erase a Sonic game to free up more space on your Wii, you should be able to re-download it later.

Find an appropriate console emulator for the Sonic game you'd like to play. Early games were on the Sega Genesis system, but you may be able to find a working Sega CD emulator to play other Sonic games.

Search for Sonic ROMs to download. Emulation sites are often shut down due to copyright issues, so you may run into lots of dead links. Add the names of popular uploading sites, such as Megaupload or RapidShare to help find current links (see Resources below).

Open the ROM image with your emulator to play the Sonic game after you download it. If the game doesn't work, try using a different emulator.

Open the ROM's preferences and adjust the control settings so that you're comfortable playing on a keyboard. You can also buy a game R4 Card controller, but they might not work with all emulators.

Use Super Game R4 Card DS One

The Nintendo DS r4 card is a dual-screen handheld video game console with a library of over 600 games, touch-screen capabilities, a built-in microphone and WiFi compatibility. Though limited in multimedia functions out of the box, flashcards such as the Supercard DS One can grant the DS MP3 and video playback, e-book functionality and the ability to run home-brew apps and games. The Supercard DS One is simple to set up and easy to use.

Plug the microSD card into the USB adapter. Make sure it is completely clean. If it is not already, format it into a FAT16 or FAT32 file system.

Open the 'English' folder. Search inside of the 'DS(ONE) SDHC_version' folder for a .rar file.

Extract 'scshell' and 'MSFORSC.NDS' onto your microSD card. The Supercard DS One is now completely set up.

Add music, e-books, pictures or whatever home-brew apps interest you. Content can be added anywhere on the card, but it would be wise to add them to a central folder to remain organized.

Turn on the system and familiarize yourself with the Supercard DS One's layout. Test out the different functions to confirm a successful setup.

The M3 line of flashcards for the DS and DS Lite systems enables a variety home-brew games and applications to be used on the platforms, as well as turning the DS into a multimedia machine capable mp3 and video playback, and e-book support. The M3 comes in varieties including M3 Real and M3 Simply, but all of them work in largely the same way.

Make sure the MicroSD card is completely blank. Format the MicroSD card into a FAT16 or FAT32 file system using the MicroSD-to-USB adapter that comes with the M3. Often the card will already be in one of those formats.

Remove the MicroSD r4 cards from the USB adapter and plug it into the M3. Put the M3 into the DS and enjoy.

Nintendo DS Patronized the Compact Memory Storage Device Technology

The Nintendo DS is a technology introduced by Nintendo Corporation which patronized the compact memory R4 Cards storage device technology.

The early versions of the DS had the disadvantage of temporary memory and non reusability, which were though covered by the later versions of the DS. There are 2 generations of the DS, the first which fits devices like the Game Boy and the second which fits into the slot of the DS game card slot.

With the outburst of gaming among youngsters, Nintendo's gaming consoles were a big success resulting in more competitors coming into the market and competition building up to bring out the best products at affordable prices. The Nintendo DS works like a flash drive which helps you to store data and transfer it to the necessary location.

This feature helps gamers to plug in the R4 card into a computer, log into one of the websites which provide the needed game and download it into the card. This card is later placed back in the Nintendo console and one can get on with gaming again.

The Nintendo DS has further led to the creation of more advanced and efficient data storage systems and also with each year, the compactness and price of these memory devices has been on the downward curve. But the latest versions of Nintendo's gaming consoles do not detect the R4 card and hence one needs to be informed well on what suits your application best apart from the R4.

An advanced version of the R4 is called R4i and this card is compatible with the later versions of Nintendo consoles which do not support the R4. In simple terms, the Nintendo DS is the father of data storage technology in the gaming console world. The Nintendo DS works like a flash drive which helps you to store data and transfer it to the necessary location.

One of the biggest benefits about these cards is that they are rather inexpensive. After you make the initial purchase of the DS and all of the games that you want to play on it, it will only be slightly more money to find the expanded memory cards. When you stop to consider the fact that you can store backup copies of all of your games on these cards, they become a great insurance investment. Should anything happen to your card, you will only lose all of the information stored on that card. You will still have the hard copies of those games available.

This feature helps gamers to plug in the R4 card into a computer, log into one of the websites which provide the needed game and download it into the card. This card is later placed back in the Nintendo console and one can get on with gaming again.

The Value of R4 Card and How to use it well

The Nintendo DS R4 Card gaming console is very popular gaming device all over the world. The new technology in the DS is known as the R4 DS means revolution for DS. The DS gaming terminal has a long history. There are two types of devices that can be attached to the DS known as the slot1 devices and slot2 devices. You could only play games with DS until the latest technology has come into existence. The R4DS is the latest technology available in the market and has got very much popularity.

Here's a quick run down of just what the R4 DS is. I would suggest that if you're not quite sure as to what the R4 DS is, and what it can do, that you do go back to reading my article on this truly unique Nintendo DS accessory. In brief, the R4 DS is a slot 1 device that allows you to play homebrew games as well as Roms and Mp3 music, read e-books, watch movies, etc... on your Nintendo DS console. It turns your Nintendo DS system into a whole entertainment center, all for under $50.00.

There are some quick and easy tips to follow. While some of these tips may seem obvious, it even took me about a week and a half of using the R4 DS before I came up with some ways to make game playing a little bit easier.

1. Store your game files in a directory on your microSD Card. Make a folder called games, and ONLY store your games in this folder. It makes browsing to them in the menu much easier, and all your game save files will also be organized.

2. Store your MP3 Music files and video files in seperate folders too, and in the case of multiple music albums on the memory card, you should make a sub-directory of each album. This is a MUST for anyone that has lots of music, with all of the track names labelled TRACK 1.mp3, TRACK 2.mp3, etc... You'll avoid conficts with file names by putting them all in on directory, and because you can name your sub-directory the name of the CD your ripped, you'll at least know that TRACK-1.mp3 in the ABBA directory is from the ABBA greatest hits album.

3. Try to backup your game saves to your PC hard drive on a regular basis. Not because they could get corrupted on the microSD card in the R4 DS, but because you may want to go back to an earlier save point later in the game. It's also good to get into this habit because you may erase a game (and its save game file) and not have a backup in case you want to play that game once again sometime in the future. While this one really seems like an obvious hint, you would be surprised to know that most of our technical support emails for the R4 DS deal with how to get back erased or deleted game saves that were not backed up. I recommend doing this at LEAST once a week, more if you play your games more frequently.

4. Don't take out the R4 DS from the Nintendo DS console each time you want to add files to the microSD Card. Simply push the microSD card with your finger and it will 'pop out' of the R4 DS card slot. You can then quickly put it into the included microSD Card reader / writer in order to change games and files or add music or video.

5. This is my final (and quite possibly the most obvious) tip. And it deals with the microSD card in the card slot of the R4 DS. When you put the Nintendo DS or DS Lite into your pocket or pick it up. Do a double check on the microSD card in the R4DS slot 1 card. Make sure that the microSD card is in the card slot of the R4DS and it's not loose or ready to pop out. The chances of it popping out without you pushing down on the card are slim, but it could happen while you're carrying it in your pocket. There would be nothing worse than losing your microSD card somewhere, because it popped out and fell on the ground. MicroSD Cards are small and tiny, and once lost, you would have a hard time finding it anywhere else except at a store, where you'd be buying a new one. If you carry your Nintendo DS in a case, then the chances are much smaller that the card will get dislodged from the R4 DS card slot, but it's better to check on a regular basis anyway. Make this something you do before you even power on.

The piracy in the usage of the Nintendo gaming console is increased due to easy use of the R4DS and easy availability of the games to be downloaded in the SD card. The persons who does the piracy, once gets the files of the illegal game in the computer than they transfer them in the Nintendo console. The Nintendo company was about to stop the selling of the R4DS due to the increase in the piracy of games. They had made the device for the legal use and the piracy makes the device available for the pirated and games.

Another point to consider is the piracy of the R4 Cards cartridge itself. The R4DS cards are available in pirated version by many illegal distributors. There are many people who loose their computer in a short circuit. It is necessary for you to overlook some trusted web sites if you are about to buy the R4DS for the fist time or after an accident with the old pirated one. There are a lot of web sites offering the R4DS sales. You must look for the website which has a store near to you and offering legal sales of the R4DS system.

How to Increase R4 Card Wii Memory

With the latest firmware update to the Nintendo Wii, gamers are finally able to transfer and download WiiWare and Virtual Console games to be played directly from an SD R4 card. Using an SD card increases a Wii's memory beyond what is available on the console, allowing for the download of more games, more channels and more fun.

Open the front flap on the Wii, between the eject and reset buttons. Push the SD card into the slot, with the label facing to the right if the Wii is standing upright, or with the label upright if the Wii is on its side. It should click into the slot.

Turn on the Wii and go to the Settings menu, accessible from the bottom left corner of the Wii Main Menu.

Open the Data Management Menu, then select "Channels." Select the game or channel you want to transfer, select "Move," then confirm you want to move the channel.

Go back to the Wii Main Menu and enter the SD card channel, accessible right next to the Wii Settings Menu icon. You can then select the game you wish to play, which will start up after a short load time.

Playing a Wii game and getting frustrated because your Wii Remote keeps losing the signal with the Wii console? Try increasing the range of your Wii Sensor Bar. The Wii Sensor Bar is a thin bar that sits above or below your TV and plugs into the back of the Wii game console. When you point your Wii Remote at the screen, the Sensor Bar uses two points of infrared light to determine the distance that the Wii remote is from the TV screen. Typically, Wii Remotes can be used 6 to 10 feet away from your TV.

Remove any sources of bright light near your Wii console. Bright lights interfere with the infrared signals that your Wii Remote is sending to the Sensor Bar. Besides bright lamps, remove burning candles, turn off space heaters, and shut off Christmas tree lights. Also, try closing blinds or curtains to block out bright sunlight.

Turn on your Wii. Click on the "Wii" button on the lower-left side of the Wii startup screen.

Click on the "Wii Settings" icon that looks like a wrench.

Click on the blue arrow on the right until you see the Wii System Settings 2 menu. Scroll down the menu and click on "Sensor Bar."

Click "Sensitivity." The Sensitivity option specifies how far the Sensor Bar can be from the Wii Remote and still work.

Hold the Wii Remote and move to where you are having problems with the Wii Remote losing contact with the game console.

Point the cursor at the screen and move the two white dots into the square test box on the screen. If you see two blinking dots in the square, your Sensor Bar is set correctly and should be working.

If you don't see two blinking white dots, move the scroll bar under the test square to the right "+" side until you see the blinking dots.

Press "A" on the Wii remote to save the new Sensor Bar settings.

If you see more than two blinking dots in the test square, the Wii Remote is sensing other sources of light in the room. Walk around the room and eliminate light sources until you only see two dots on the screen.

Only move the Sensor Bar sensitivity to right until you see the blinking dots. Don't automatically move to the highest sensitivity option. The higher sensitivity setting the greater chance that other types of light in the room will affect the Wii Remote.

Out of the box, the Nintendo Wii only comes with 512MB of internal memory. This is a decent amount of memory for game saves, but if you want to add additional content to your Wii (such as Wii Channels and downloadable content), you will need to get SD or SDHC R4 cards. These are small memory devices commonly used to increase the storage capacity of portable devices such as cameras or cell phones. The same can be done for the Nintendo Wii.

How to Make a Wii Channel to Read SD Cards

When you hook your Nintendo Wii to a TV and turn it on, you'll find rectangles laid in a grid. These are called channels. Channels with pictures are ready to select. Blank channels await content from the Wii Shop Channel. The console's memory is finite, though, so eventually you'll run out of room for new channels. That's when an SD R4 card comes in handy. Updating the Wii console's software creates an SD Card Menu to go with the rest of the channels. This new "channel" is where you read SD R4 cards.

Test your Wii's broadband Internet connection by using the WiiMote to click on the round Wii options button on the main menu (bottom-left). Click the wrench then scroll to the Internet slot.

Update your Wii console to the newest main menu by clicking on the round Wii Options button from the main menu. Click on the wrench then scroll to the Wii System Update slot on the last page of available choices. A depiction of an SD card now appears between the round Wii Options button and the date.

Pop an SD or SDHC card into the SD slot on the front of the Wii console and push it in until it clicks. The SD slot is next to the game disc slot.

Click on the SD icon to access the SD "channel," which is actually a menu. A grid of blank rectangles similar to what you might find on the main menu appears.

Download games from the Wii Shop Channel and choose the option to download to SD memory.

Go back to the main menu, then click on the SD icon to read the content you just loaded. Each downloaded item will "live" in one of the grid rectangles, just like on the main menu.

Using the Data Management tool (next to the wrench after you click the round Wii Options button from the main menu), you can transfer data between the Wii console and SD or SDHC cards.

You can also use the the Photo Channel to read photos, video and audio files from an SD card. The Wii Speak Channel also has SD compatibility.

You can use mini- and micro-SD R4 cards in the Wii, but only with an SD card adapter.

How to Save Games to an SD R4 Card on The Wii

Using the Wii Data Management menu, you can transfer, add or delete information saved to your Nintendo Wii onto an SD R4 card. This includes saved files, certain downloadable content, and files downloaded from the Wii Message board. It should be noted that only SD cards that are 2GB or less are compatible with the Wii unless you have updated your Nintendo Wii. If you ever connected to the Wii Shop Channel or used any Internet-based Wii Channel, your Wii has been updated.

Insert the SD card into the SD Card Slot on the front of the Nintendo Wii.

Turn the Wii on and wait for the Wii Channel menu to load.

Select the "Wii Settings" icon at the bottom left of the Wii Channel Menu.

Select "Data Management," "Save Data" and the "Wii" tab to bring up all of the saved data on the machine.

Choose the game you want to save to the SD card. Select "Copy." Select "Yes" when asked if you want to transfer the game to the SD card.

As you update your Wii and download games, its hard drive becomes full. Fortunately, the Wii can use SD cards for additional storage. If your Virtual Console purchases take up too much space, you can move them to a SD card to regain hard drive space. This guide will show you how to copy channels onto a SD card.

Select Wii Options in the lower-left corner of the main Wii Channel menu.

Select Data Management. The Data Management section of Wii Options gives you access to files stored on the Wii, Game Cube memory card or SD R4 cards.

Select Channels. Games stored on the Wii and SD card are organized as channels along with other Wii content.

Select the channel you want to copy to a SD card in the Wii tab. The Wii tab shows channels that are stored on the hard drive. Channels on the SD card can be viewed in the SD Card tab.

Select Copy in the pop-up window. When you select a channel, you are given the option to Move, Copy or Erase the channel. Selecting Move will fully transfer the channel onto the SD card. Use Copy to retain a copy of the game on the Wii.

Select Yes to copy the channel.

When the channel is copied, select the SD Card tab. If the channel was successfully copied, you will find it in the SD Card tab. You can erase the original file from the Wii hard drive if you want, or keep it as a backup.

Make sure you have the latest Wii System Update so it can read higher-capacity SD cards. Channels on a SD card can be accessed by clicking the SD card icon in the main menu. Channels can be played from an SD card.

Removing the SD R4 card during transfer can corrupt the original copy of the file. Channels launched off the SD card lose some Internet functionality. Saved games cannot be read from a SD card. The Wii allows a maximum of 240 channels per SD card.

How to Update Wii SD R4 Card

Nintendo Wii uses SD R4 Card technology to help players transfer saved games, photos and other data to a secondary storage unit. The SD R4 Cards can upload and download information from one system to the next, making it easy to share multimedia between consoles. Most SD R4 Cards are compatible with the Wii, and some are even optimized for it (you'll see the Official Nintendo Seal on them).

Turn on your Nintendo Wii and access the Data Management section of the console. From here you can add, copy, delete or otherwise update and modify the data stored on your Wii or in your SD R4 Card.

Insert your SD R4 Card into the SD R4 Card slot on the front panel of the console. Note that it is safe to attach or remove the SD R4 Card while the Wii is running.

Find and select the files in your Data Management pool that you wish to update to your SD R4 Card. This is done by highlighting the files using the directional pad or the Wiimote, and pressing A or the trigger.

Select the "Copy" command from the Data Management console, followed by the "Copy to SD R4 Card" menu options.

Back up your Virtual Console games to your SD R4 Card to make room for new ones. Simply select them as you would any other data and copy them using the procedures above.

Save message board data to your SD R4 Card to make room for more communications. Many users send and receive messages frequently but want to save logs, so transferring them to the SD R4 Card allows you to keep logs as long as you want. The SD R4 Card will update in the order the messages were received, starting with the first.

If you have a micro-SD card you can still use it with your Nintendo Wii. You just need to use its SD adapter in order to make it compatible with the Wii.

Be aware that you cannot transfer saved games from one Wii to the next. This limits the ability for players to pass game data from one friend to another. However, photographs, short videos and other multimedia files are transferable.

WiiShop purchases are downloadable to SD R4 cards, but you cannot play VC games from the SD card. They will only work on your own Wii.
